Test the workface
Match machine pressure, reach and movement to the actual surface.
The reconnaissance brief.
Ground conditions affect access, stability, production and recovery. This mission records moisture, bearing, slopes, edges, made ground and weather exposure so the supplier can consider operating weight, undercarriage, reach, matting and recovery needs.
Record what you can verify, label what remains uncertain, and send the evidence with the enquiry. The supplier can then assess equipment fit, mobilisation and support against a clearer operating picture.
What to read on the ground.
- 01Soft areas, fill boundaries and visible pumping or rutting
- 02Longitudinal gradients, crossfall and unprotected edges
- 03Working-platform construction and inspection status
- 04Forecast weather and the route available for recovery
Five passes through the mission.
- 01
Walk the intended travel and operating zones after representative weather.
- 02
Separate verified information from visual assumptions about the ground.
- 03
Record slopes, edge distances and areas where the machine must turn.
- 04
Identify matting, benching, drainage or ground-improvement dependencies.
- 05
Agree stop conditions and a recovery approach before the machine enters.
